Frigidaire Refrigerator Displays and What They Mean
Frigidaire recommends 37°F in the fresh-food section and 0°F in the freezer, and it calls 33°F to 47°F and minus 6°F to 6°F the acceptable ranges. Put a thermometer inside before deciding anything is broken, then read the display against this list from Frigidaire's own support articles.
- 77 77 on the display, lights on, no cooling
- Demo Mode, meant for a showroom floor, where the display works but the cooling parts don't run. Frigidaire's fix is to unplug the refrigerator for 5 minutes and plug it back in. If it comes back in demo after that, the control board is worth a look.
- HI or H blinking in the refrigerator temperature
- The compartment has been too warm for over an hour. A door left ajar or a gasket that isn't sealing is what Frigidaire tells you to check first. Close the door on a dollar bill. You should feel a bit of resistance as you pull it out.
- PF light after a storm or a flicker
- Frigidaire uses PF for a power outage or surge, and it can set off the high temperature alarm too. If the unit seems dead afterward, Frigidaire suggests turning the breaker off and back on, and checking whether a GFI outlet has tripped.
- DI SP (DISP) and no ice from the door
- Ice jammed in the chute. Clear the jammed cubes, take out the ice bin and let it thaw, then clean it and put it back. Ice that keeps jamming is covered in the ice maker repair guide.
- New refrigerator still warm the day after delivery
- Frigidaire says a new unit needs 24 hours to stabilize and wants its own branch circuit, 115 or 120 volts and grounded. It also says not to install one where the temperature drops below 55°F. Within 30 days of installation, Frigidaire sends you back to your installer; after that, to Frigidaire service.

Why a New Garbage Disposal Can Trigger i20
New disposals usually ship with a plastic plug sealing the port where a dishwasher drain hose connects. When a new disposal goes in and nobody knocks that plug out, the dishwasher pumps against a closed wall, and the first run ends on i20. Frigidaire lists the knockout plug first among the i20 causes.
The hose is next. Frigidaire wants the drain hose to reach a height of at least 32 inches. A hose that slumps to the cabinet floor or gets crushed behind a trash can blocks the drain as well as any clog would. If the filter is clean, the plug is out, the hose is up and i20 or i40 still returns, the drain pump becomes the suspect. What Frigidaire's Written Warranty Actually Says
Frigidaire's refrigerator use and care manual (the April 2021 edition, A21785802) states the standard terms plainly: the appliance has a one year limited warranty, and for one year from your original date of purchase, Electrolux pays all costs for repairing or replacing parts that prove defective in materials or workmanship, as long as the appliance was installed, used and maintained according to the instructions.
Two lines in that manual matter more than the length. Warranty service has to be obtained by contacting Electrolux, and damage caused by services performed by unauthorized service companies isn't covered. So inside year one, book through Frigidaire's repair page. Keep the receipt or delivery slip, since that's what Frigidaire uses to set the start date.
Terms can differ by product and model year, and this manual doesn't settle what applies to your freezer, range or dishwasher. Read the warranty page in your own manual, or look up the model at owner.frigidaire.com, before paying for anything expensive.
What Frigidaire's Warranty Won't Pay For
The same manual lists exclusions. Seven of them matter most in the first year of ownership:
- An appliance transferred from its original owner. If the Frigidaire came with a house you bought, the manual's terms don't carry over to you.
- Food lost when the refrigerator or freezer fails.
- Products bought "as-is", such as a floor model or scratch-and-dent unit.
- Service calls to fix the installation or to show you how to use the appliance.
- Water filters, air filters, light bulbs, knobs, handles and other consumable or cosmetic parts.
- After-hours, weekend and holiday surcharges.
- Rust inside or outside the cabinet, and anything used in a commercial setting.

After a Power Outage: Food, PF and the HI Alarm
Frigidaire's manual excludes food lost to a refrigerator or freezer failure, and it also excludes damage from an inadequate power supply, so after a storm the food is on you. The FDA says an unopened refrigerator keeps food cold for about 4 hours, a full freezer about 48 and a half-full one about 24.
When power returns, expect PF on the display and possibly a HI alarm while the cabinet pulls back down. Give it several hours before judging. A unit that still isn't cold the next day is a refrigerator repair question.

Who makes Frigidaire appliances?
Frigidaire belongs to Electrolux. According to Electrolux Group, Frigidaire's owner, White Consolidated Industries, was purchased by Electrolux in 1986. That's also why Frigidaire's warranty wording names Electrolux as the company that pays for covered repairs, and why owner registration, manuals and repair booking run through owner.frigidaire.com.
Is $190 what a Frigidaire repair costs in Houston?
Not necessarily. $190 is the starting price Frigidaire lists for its own Fixed Price Repair, and $150 is its starting price for a trip and diagnosis. They're Frigidaire's own starting prices for its service. Use them as a reference when a Houston repair company gives you an estimate, along with HomeGuide's $70 to $130 service call range.
I bought a house with Frigidaire appliances. Is the warranty still good?
Probably not under the manual's terms. Frigidaire's use and care manual excludes products transferred from the original owner to another party, so the one-year coverage doesn't follow the appliance to a new buyer. Check the specific manual for your model, and if the home seller bought a separate service plan, ask whether it transfers.
Can a local company repair my Frigidaire while it is under warranty?
